This Naperville kitchen remodel and interior renovation turned a series of dark, awkward spaces into a warm place to gather with friends and family. Removing a half wall between the traditional kitchen and the sun-drenched living room opened up the flow between them. Recessed canned lighting nestles in a coffered ceiling that mirrors the texture of the stately columns that frame the doorway. Several custom oak cabinets were built to house the family’s china collection, as well as a convenient wine refrigerator and lighted display cabinets. The breakfast room, once awkwardly separate, is now united for casual dining.
