Nearly doubling the size of this home in Chicago, this Lakeview neighborhood addition turned a small house into something the family could really enjoy. The newly remodeled kitchen upgraded all appliances to include a state-of-the-art refrigerator, range, microwave, and dishwasher. Adding a bi-level granite island eased the worries of a chef who was frustrated with cooking in a tight space. Diamond-cut slate tile lends texture to the backsplash, while pine cabinets in both the kitchen and the dining room provide storage and design consistency. Through a wide, arched doorway, a casual family room looks onto the backyard.
On the second floor, we added two bedrooms with soaring, peaked ceilings and cherry wood floors, as well as his-and-hers walk-in closets. A master bathroom with skylight, dual sinks with chrome faucets, and plenty of space for towels and toiletries makes the morning routine far more enjoyable.
